It might be the residue of dubious substances - still racing through my body after a worryingly insane NYE party- that's been fueling my promising start of the new year, but I nonetheless feel that 2008 could become the new 2007. We're just two weeks in and it seems to be raining quality tracks and productions already.

A great deal of music that's being produced lately shamelessly borrows elements from typically early 90's tracks (the new Surkin - make sure to give it a listen) and to be frank, it doesn't all sound that bad. Hopefully it's the start of something ground breakingly exciting, where 2007 was the year of chainsaw distortion and 2008 can be the defining year of something new entirely.

Well then, let's kick off this year with a remake of a mint Chemical Brother's track; Star Guitar. Shinichi Osawa - quite possibly the only Japanese in the scene - worked with Au Revoir Simone, producers of gorgeous, playful indie, and gave this fairly rusty tune a work-up. Enjoy!
